Lecture 1: MIB and Assignment Briefing

07.01,19

For this first class, we were briefed about our MIB and the upcoming assignments in this module. There was also an online class where our lecturer Mr. Charles explained that for our project 1 we were asked to make a proposal solely by research about the place that we're going, which means making a minimum of 5 proposals just based on research, we were suggested to go and look at documentaries, videos, blogs and pictures to help us determine our proposals. We were given a certain to help narrow down our search, our theme is called "Living With Nature". With that being said we were required to make a presentation about the proposals that we made.

Lecture 2: Traditional Media vs New Media Culture

For this week, we were lectured about the difference between traditional media vs new media culture. We were given 2 videos to watch and we had to answer the questions given to us. For each video we are provided with different questions to answer, this is the first link to the video.

These are the questions given:
1.) Do you think modern technology can assist you in learning about traditional culture?

2.) How do you include, utilise and manipulate modern technology into this module and project to benefit your learning culture, and expressing it in design?

Jacques Derrida Philosophy

These are the questions given:

1. How do new media and old media apply to your study?

2. How do traditional culture and modern culture co-exist? Discuss this in the context of Malaysia or Borneo/Sarawak if you like too.

After watching the videos, we were given 1 hour to discuss the questions and give a short presentation about the matter, however we were not chosen for presentation.

These are the slides that we made.
