Project 2 - Font Design
For this project we were asked to design font based on our initials, but we were then first asked to study our initials first through making lines and circles. we could only use Serif or San Serif fonts. Since I have only one name, my initials were just one letter which is J, This is the letter study that I made.
I started designing my fonts by doing sketches for the letters, eventually Mr. Shamsul approved one of the sketches that I made for the letters. these are the sketches that I made :
I then digitize it in illustrator and came out with this as the final result and place it into my fontlab. these are the results.
FEEDBACK
WEEK 9
I showed Mr. Shamsul my sketches and Mr. Shamsul said that one of the sketches are interesting and he told me that one of the sketches could work.
WEEK 10
I showed Mr. Vinod my digitized letters and he mentioned that the curve on my P can be bigger in size.
REFLECTIONS
EXPERIENCE
WEEK 9 - WEEK 10
I had the most unluckiest time doing this, my file was corrupted and I had to do this all over again and it took a while doing this in Project 2.
OBSERVATIONS
WEEK 9 - 10
I noticed that I became more observation of the curves and details of each letters that I made.
FURTHER READINGS
I read a book on typography and it spoke about the nature of Typography, it tells of how typography is big and has a lot of variety and that there is no right standard of identifying typography.
